Improving Mathematical Communication By Making Learning Visible

In this workshop we will share how we use engaging math routines and video to make learning visible for students, parents and teachers. Visible Learning provides formative assessment that allows students to reflect and improve their learning, provides teachers with opportunities for deeper assessment and student-centered planning, and provides rich documentation to share with parents. Although the examples used in the workshop come from grade 6/7 Math, the ideas shared are transferable to any grade level and subject area.

    Mandeep is currently teaching a combined class of grade 6 and 7 students in Surrey. With a MEd. in Human Development, Learning and Culture from UBC, Mandeep specialized her studies in self-regulated collaborative learning. She is committed to project-based learning that utilizes inquiry, growth mindset and design thinking.
