Information Literacy for Learning

We will be looking at the five parts of information literacy: Identify, Find, Evaluate, Apply and Acknowledge.   This is an introduction for teachers on on how to help their students search for information, look at the digital resources available to Surrey teachers and students, evaluate sources online and collect information as well as acknowledge their sources.

Please bring a laptop or iPad with you to the workshops.

  • Jas Kooner

    Jas has been a teacher in the Surrey School District for more than 20 years.  She has taught everything from Kindergarten to grade 7 with the exception of grade 1 (It's that magical grade!) with the majority of experience in an intermediate classroom.  Currently, she works as a Literacy Helping Teacher.

    I am the Teacher Librarian Helping Teacher in Surrey and get excited about integrating technology in authentic ways, connecting people with quality resources and helping students and my colleauges access and use information.  After 13 years in this work, I am excited to share what I have learned about information literacy with you and to hear your ideas too!
